Sheep Dog Watercolor

I painted the sheep dog (photo below) with his tongue hanging out for a show entitled “Hot, Hot, Hot.” It was a juried show and the theme was to paint anything that the summer heat made you think of. I did this in watercolor of a friend’s sheep dog with his tongue hanging out because it was on a day when he was very hot, tired and thirsty. The title of my painting was Dog Days of Summer.
This painting won me a First Place Award in the show! So happy with it!

I painted the background very dark to show off the dog, and to make the white strands of his fur stand out, and that long tongue hanging out.
