Eyes To Heaven – Casper

This painting of “Eyes To Heaven” was emotionally difficult to paint because of the story that goes along with it. I was commissioned to paint this and I chose to do it in pastels. Photo credit goes to photographer Andrea Seamans.
Casper was a rescue dog who was found wandering and then rescued by a couple, who even after finding out he was in the final stages of kidney failure took him in hopes they could love him and heal him. Casper was a young dog, but his poor body from being left out on the streets for so long could not recover. Casper crossed over the rainbow bridge and his new family was devastated.
I saw this beautiful dog and just really wanted to paint him. His story grabbed at me and the photo just looked so that he was and knew he was headed to Heaven being loved unconditionally by the people who rescued him.
My heart and a piece of me are in this painting.
